EL AEROPUERTO ECOLÓGICO DE GALÁPAGOS ES GALARDONADO POR EL MINISTERIO DE AMBIENTE.
El Aeropuerto Ecológico de Galápagos, recibió por parte de la Ministra de Ambiente, Lorena Tapia, un reconocimiento al aporte en el cuidado, conservación y protección de los recursos naturales del país, en el marco de la gala de los Premios Latinoamérica Verde 2015, llevada acabo el 25 de septiembre en el Palacio de Cristal de Guayaquil.
El galardón fue recibido por Jorge Rosillo, gerente general de ECOGAL, de manos de la ministra Tapia, quien enfatizó que estos premios y reconocimientos son una gran oportunidad para comprender que la región no trabaja por construir un sueño lejano sino que avanza firme junto a todos por un mundo que sea consciente de la importancia de proteger y conservar el legado más grande que posee la humanidad: la naturaleza.

Otras empresas y organizaciones, también recibieron este reconocimiento, como la Comunidad de Galápagos, por la eliminación del uso de fundas plásticas en la provincia; Almacen Tía por la reducción en el uso de fundas plásticas tipo camiseta; la Red Nacional de Recicladores del Ecuador, RENAREC, por su aporte en el reciclaje del país; a la mancomunidad Mundo Verde por el relleno sanitario; al Presidente de CONAGOPARE por la participación activa en reforestación a nivel nacional; y, a la comuna Playa de Oro como ejemplo de conservación de bosques nativos.
Hace 2 años, el Aeropuerto Ecológico de Galápagos fue acreedor al premio Latinoamérica Verde como mejor Proyecto Arquitectónico Verde, en la ceremonia que se llevó acabo el 18 de julio de 2.013.
